Are you up for the Snowball Mountain Challenge August 7-9?!

But what is the Snowball Mountain Challenge? Our theme this year comes from Phillipians 4:13 (NRSV): “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” Challengers will work together and with their leaders to discover that they can do all things through the strength God provides them. Throughout this VBS, we’ll recount how Bible figures drew strength from God to face challenges in the Old and New Testaments in a variety of situations.

We'll serve up dinner on Friday, lunch for the kids on Saturday, and on Sunday we'll host a potluck meal followed by outdoor playtime.

Are You Up for the Challenge?!?

  • Friday August 7th, 6:15pm-9pm

Session 1: We can share the gifts God has given us. Our Bible story for this session teaches us about how Joseph shared his gift of interpreting dreams to help others

  • Saturday August 8th, 9:30am-2:30pm

Session 2 (9:30am-noon): We can be brave. We’ll hear a story about how Esther found courage through her faith to stand up for others in a very difficult situation.

Lunch (noon-12:30pm)

Session 3 (12:30pm-2:30pm): We can give our all. We’ll hear the story of a widow who gave what appeared to some to be very little, but Jesus saw that it was so much more.

  • Sunday August 9th, 10am-2:00pm

Session 4: We can hope. We’ll hear a story from after Jesus’ resurrection. Though Jesus was physically removed from his followers, the ministry he began continued on through his disciples. Before Jesus left, he let them know that they would receive the power of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit helped the disciples continue the work Jesus had begun.

What is Vacation Bible Camp?

Vacation Bible Camp is a short-term summer program to teach children about God, the Bible, and faith in a fun and engaging way. It includes activities like singing, games, Bible stories, crafts, and snacks. Think of Vacation Bible Camp as a fun, city version of summer camp but without the overnight stays! Vacation Bible Camp fosters a sense of community among children and families within the church, allowing them to build friendships and develop a sense of belonging. It's also a wonderful outreach program to connect with children and families in the wider community, introducing them to the church.

Does it cost anything for my child to attend Vacation Bible Camp?

NO! There is no cost to attend Vacation Bible Camp at Falls Church. As part of our ongoing efforts to support our community, we are collecting school supplies for the upcoming school year. We welcome a contribution to that effort, but a contribution is not required to attend.

Can I drop off my camper or do I need to stay with them?

You are welcome to come and go or stay on campus during Vacation Bible Camp. Whatever you choose, parents are encouraged to enjoy fellowshipping with the other adults and let the kids navigate camp with their age group and "Camp Counselor" on their own. Friday evening we will have a speaker for parents on a topic relevant to raising children. Past speakers have discussed keeping kids safe on the internet, social media, and mental health. This year's speaker is still TBD. Saturday is a full day of Vacation Bible Camp, so it's a great time for you to drop off your camper and run some errands! Sunday is a Vacation Bible Camp family day, so please plan to join your camper for Bible class and worship, followed by a potluck lunch and outdoor fun!

Do I need to preregister my camper?

We encourage you to preregister your camper using the link above so we can begin to get to know your camper and ensure we have accommodations in place if needed. You will also have an opportunity to register when you drop off your camper!

Do you have allergy friendly food options?

We encourage those with allergies to preregister so we can ensure we have allergy friendly snacks your kids will enjoy. We will have a limited number of allergy free snacks available just in case.

How can I learn more about your children's classes?

Please visit our Children's Ministry page for more information regarding our children's classes and how you can become a part of them!
